Sludge digestion

Sludge can be of organic or inorganic origin. Organic sludge can come from municipal wastewater treatment plants, industrial wastewater treatment plants, livestock processes, agricultural processes, etc. The sludge from urban sewage treatment plants can be digested, that is, by retaining them in generally closed processes and can be aerobic or anaerobic. The former are treated by means of intensive contributions of air so that the organic matter they contain oxidizes and reduces its volume, increasing water and CO2. This final sludge’s are usable in agriculture as fertilizers. The latter are enclosed in airtight tanks so that the bacteria they contain transform organic matter into methane gas, which is used to generate electricity. The final sludge is also suitable for agriculture.
